This sweet chilli chicken recipe has been made by the inspiration I got from the taste of a sweet chilli chicken from one of the South Indian street foodshop, normally called thattukada. The look and the level of spice has been modified to a tolerable level.

Ingredients



INGREDIENTS - Step 1


  • Chicken breast : 300g


  • Salt : 1 teaspoon


  • Turmeric powder :1 teaspoon


  • Red chilli powder: 1/2 teaspoon


  • Natural yogurt: 2 tablespoon


  • Coriander powder: 2 teaspoon


  • Kashmiri chilli powder/paste : 1 & 1/2 teaspoon


INGREDIENTS - Step 2


  • Capsicum: 2 


  • Onion : 1 and 1/2  


  • Tomato: 1 and 1/2 


  • Garlic: 1/2 tablespoon 


  • Ginger: 1/2 tablespoon


  • Butter : 2 teaspoon


  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoon 


  • Soy sauce: 1 tablespoon


  • Sugar : 1 and 1/2 teaspoon


  • Salt : 3/4 teaspoon


  • Fennel seeds: 1 teaspoon 


  • Cinnamon stick: 1 piece  


  • Clove : 1 


  •  Chilli ( low hot ): 1 


  • Coriander leaves: 1/2 tablespoon 


  • Pepper crushed: 8-10 


  • Corn flour : 2 tablespoon

How to Make


Step 1


  • Mix all step 1 ingredients together and keep aside for 10-15 minutes.


Step 2


  • Maintain medium temperature .  In a pan add butter and olive oil. Once the oil is hot add fennel seeds, ginger crushed and crushed garlic. Stir well.


  • Also add onion chopped, salt andcoriander leaves. Stir until the onion is soft about 2-3 minutes.


  • Once the onion is soft add green chilli. Maintain low to medium heat. Stir well.


  • Add the marinated chicken and stir for 3 minutes.


  • Cover and cook for 10 minuteson low flame. After the 10 minutes of cooking take the lid off and add capsicum, tomato, cinnamon stick, clove and cornflour. Stir fry for 1 minutes.


  • Add water around 150-200mls, also add sugar 1 teaspoon. Maintain low to medium flame. Then cover and cook for another 10 minutes. Stir after every 5 minutes.


  • Once the 10 minutes of cooking finished take the lid off and add another 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.


  • On a medium flame let the water to completely evaporates. Once the water completely evaporates add the pepper crushed and soy sauce. Stir and turn off the heat.
